NFL schedule 2022: Patriots visiting Miami Dolphins in season opener

Pack your bags.

According to sources, the Patriots will kick off the 2022 regular season at Miami on Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. This marks the first time in six years the Pats will open on the road.

The Dolphins swept the Patriots last season, scoring a 17-16 victory at Foxboro in Week 1 and a 33-24 home win in the regular-season finale. Since then, Miami has undergone significant change, hiring former 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel as its new head coach, trading for All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill and signing All-Pro left tackle Tyron Armstead in free agency.

Oddsmakers currently view the Patriots and Dolphins as near equals, giving them similar chances at clinching a playoff berth, the AFC East and winning the Super Bowl. The Pats have lost four of their last six to Miami and haven’t triumphed in South Florida since 2019.

The Patriots’ complete schedule has yet to be released, though four other games have been reported and confirmed by the Herald:

Week 4: at Green Bay, Oct. 2, 4:25 p.m.

Week 5: vs. Detroit, Oct. 9, 1 p.m.

Week 7: vs. Chicago (MNF), Oct. 24, 8:15 p.m.

Week 12: at Minnesota, Nov. 24, 8:20 p.m.

The Pats will travel for nine road games this season, including trips to Las Vegas, Arizona and Pittsburgh. They’ll also play eight home games and welcome, among others, the reigning AFC champion Bengals, Ravens and Colts.

The NFL will release its entire 2022 regular-season schedule tonight at 8.
