A San Bernardino motel was evacuated Wednesday, Nov. 23, after a fire erupted between floors, though the blaze was quickly contained, authorities said.

Just before 5 p.m., crews responded to Quality Inn, a three-story motel in the 1700 block of Waterman Avenue, according to Battalion Chief Mike McClintock of the San Bernardino County Fire Department. The crews found the blaze on the second floor, threatening to spread to the third floor.

Staff members and guests were evacuated and there were no injuries reported, McClintock said.

The fire was knocked down in under an hour, and crews managed to stop it from spreading to the third floor. The cause of the fire was under investigation and crews remained on scene into the evening to remove smoke and clear debries.
