Person hit and killed by Caltrain in San Mateo

SAN MATEO – A person was hit and killed by a Caltrain on Wednesday night in San Mateo, according to the commuter rail line.

The collision was reported around 7:30 p.m. on the tracks south of the Burlingame station, Caltrain spokesperson Dan Lieberman said in an email.

Lieberman said the death marked the commuter rail line’s ninth fatality of the year.

No injuries were reported among the northbound train’s 40 passengers, Lieberman said.

As of 9 p.m., emergency personnel were still at the scene and trains were running on one track at reduced speeds, Lieberman said.
